Participate with safety first

Interested in taking part in a Lineman, Lumberjack, Arborist or Wood Carver demonstration? Submit the participation acknowledgement below. Demonstrations must be approved by Timber Festival, supervised by an appropriate competent person, and begin each day with a completed Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA) and safety review.

Participant Requirements

All demonstrations and participant activities require prior Timber Festival approval.
A designated supervisor or competent person must oversee each demonstration area.
A site-specific FLHA / tailboard and safety review must be completed before demonstrations begin each day and updated if conditions change.
Participants must use appropriate PPE and equipment, follow manufacturer instructions, applicable laws, industry standards and festival safety directions.
Only authorized participants may enter controlled demonstration areas. Spectators must remain behind designated barriers.
Participants must immediately stop work if conditions become unsafe, an organizer or supervisor directs a stop, or an incident/near miss occurs.
Participants are responsible for confirming they are trained, competent and physically able to perform the activity they volunteer to demonstrate.
Any required licences, certifications, insurance or employer authorization must be current and available to organizers when requested.
No participant may take part while impaired or otherwise unable to perform safely.

Important: Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Timber Festival may change, postpone or cancel any demonstration for safety, weather, site or operational reasons.

I am voluntarily requesting to participate in a Timber Festival demonstration or related trade activity on Timber Festival property. I understand that live trade demonstrations may involve inherent and unexpected risks, including risks associated with equipment, tools, heights, falling or moving objects, changing weather, uneven ground, noise, vehicles, other participants and spectators.

I confirm that I will participate only within my training, qualifications and ability; follow the directions of Timber Festival organizers and the designated demonstration supervisor; use required PPE; remain within approved demonstration areas; and take part in the daily FLHA / safety review before beginning activity.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I voluntarily accept the inherent risks of my participation and agree to release and hold harmless Timber Festival Ltd., Timber Festival Canada, the property owners/occupiers, directors, officers, volunteers, agents, sponsors and participating organizations from claims arising from the inherent risks of my voluntary participation, except to the extent a claim cannot legally be waived or released.

I agree to immediately report hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses, and I understand that Timber Festival may suspend or stop my participation at any time for safety or operational reasons. I am responsible for my own personal property and for disclosing any limitation that could affect my ability to participate safely.

This website acknowledgement is intended as a preliminary participant record and safety agreement. Timber Festival may require additional discipline-specific documentation, proof of insurance/certification, or an on-site signed waiver. Participants under 18 require parent/guardian consent and may participate only where specifically approved by the organizer.
